FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

If your question isn't answered here, give us a call — happy to discuss.

01

Do you build cabins on trailers or wheels?

Yes — either on a yard trailer or a road-legal trailer.

02

Is transport / delivery an extra cost?

Yes. Transport is not included in the cabin price unless clearly stated in the listing, invoice or quote. We are happy to arrange transport on your behalf.

03

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes — a 3-year workmanship guarantee on all new builds, plus manufacturers’ warranties on everything else. Happy to talk it through.

04

Do you offer rent-to-buy or finance?

Yes — we offer finance through MTF Finance. They have their own terms and conditions and run their own credit checks.

05

Can you build our cabin on our site?

Usually not, but we can locally, depending on our current workload — and only where the site can’t be reached by Hiab. Everywhere else, the cabin is built complete in our Bell Block workshop and delivered.

06

Are your cabins insulated?

Yes — all our cabins are fully insulated unless clearly stated otherwise in the listing, invoice or quote.

07

How much does a portable cabin cost?

Our standard built cabins range from $12,200 for a 4 × 2.55 m cabin to $40,300 for a 12 × 4 m cabin, including GST. Flatpacks start at $6,300 including GST. Transport is extra unless a listing says otherwise, and custom sizes are quoted free.

08

What sizes do you build?

Six standard sizes: 4 × 2.55 m; 6 × 3 m; 9 × 3 m or 9 × 2.8 m; 10 × 3 m; 10 × 4 m; 12 × 4 m. We build right up to 12 × 4 m, and to a specific size if you need one.

09

Do you deliver outside Taranaki?

Yes. We deliver complete cabins all over the North Island, and we freight flatpacks to your nearest depot anywhere in New Zealand.

10

What is a flatpack cabin?

The same insulated panels, double-glazed joinery and galvanised subfloor we use in our own builds, supplied flat for you to put together. It is not a kitset: panels need cutting and full assembly, so it suits a confident DIYer or a builder. We can weld the subfloor for you for an extra cost.

11

What comes with a built cabin?

Every cabin is fully insulated with 75 mm EPS panel, has double-glazed joinery, Expol R1.8 underfloor, carpet or vinyl lino, and a welded galvanised steel chassis with skids and lifting points. It can be left bare or fitted out with a kitchenette and bathroom.

12

Can I come and see a cabin?

Yes. Our workshop is at 39C Connett Road West, Bell Block, New Plymouth, open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Weekends are by appointment, so please call 027 327 6278 first.
